Local SEO and Google profile for a remodeling or general contracting business
The map pack is where local remodeling money is won, and the bar is embarrassingly low. The median contractor listing carries 9 reviews, 51.3% sit under ten, and 28.3% list no hours at all. Fifty reviews and a complete profile puts you ahead of most of the 116,602 listings in the dataset.
The work is unglamorous. Correct primary category, every service listed with its own description, project photos uploaded weekly, posts twice a month, and real answers written into the Q&A section. The mistake is choosing "Construction company" as the primary category when kitchens pay your bills, then wondering why you never surface for kitchen searches.
Two weeks in, working looks like profile views and direction requests climbing inside the Insights tab, calls arriving from towns that never called before, and photos on the listing that were taken this month. Ranking movement takes longer than that. Check where you stand against the benchmark report before you start so you know what you are chasing.
